LED light

Postby Hopper21 on Tue Dec 05, 2017 9:59 pm

I need some help and thoughts on a new LED light. I want to try one out but their are so many to choose from and most of the reviews are all over the place. I have a 4X2X 24 tall tank some Xenia, zoes ,RBTA, chalice, nothing special really. No plans on getting SPS. Right now I have a 4' with 2-250W HQI and 96W Anti. I bought that light years ago when I did have SPS and some more light sucking stuff. Thanks for any thoughts and please be specific if you could.

If cost isn't an issue then 3rd and 4th gen Ecotech Radions. That's what I use and love but I also use t5 supplement lighting with my led's and in my opinion its the best combination. If your looking for value I would look into Reef Breeders or SB Reef.

I gave up on leds yes they give good shimmer but t5 are simple and lamps last a year. leds DO degrade drivers fail yes ballast burn up in t5 but are cheap to replace. leds don't use that much less power a EcoTech Radion uses up to 150-190 watt and cost $650 a t5 48" setup 200 watts (depending) so about the time you leave the hobby or want a new fixture the t5 was cheaper
