Postby pangea on Wed Jan 19, 2005 11:07 pm

This is great-a local club. I obviously just joined and was wondering when where the next meeting is? I have an established 75gl mixed reef which has been neglected in past, but is now doing very well. Just ordered a frag pack from Dr.Macs-Friday delivery. I have also been collecting parts for a 240gl and have everything I need now except some motivation setting it up!!

75gl glass-undrilled
660 icecap
2 175 10k
30gl sump
DIY EAP skimmer
mag 24 return w/DIY side outputs
4 3/4 siphon overflowers (crazy I know!)
Softies
rics-a ton if anyone wants a trad
some LPS
scroll
zoo's
hammer
brain...
one fish-Flame Angel

240gl acrylic
AQ Pro
2 250 CV 10k Coralview
2 250 XM 10k EVC
4 DIY 03 URI 2x overdriven
30gl fuge
55gl sump-both rubbermaid
MRC 3 w/ gen x
DIY kalk reactor
DIY Calcium reactor

I have all the parts for reactors but not together yet-when time permits. Would relly like to come to the next meeting and share ideas

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim and welcome. I am glad to see you use rubbermaid tubs as sumps. Am I going to have lots of questions for you. Do you use one for a fuge as well?

Wow- thanks for the quick replys guys. I'm using one 29gl for my 75 w/ the pump and skimmer inside. The 240gl is not yet set up and I was planning on plumbing the 29gl fuge into the 55gl, gravity fed, w/ low flow, like under 400gph with a T of the one side drain. Possibly using Uniseals instead of a bulkhead-not sure the Uniselas will hold with the thin Rubbermaid side walls. I'll test it first.

When are you planning on setting up the monster tank? I am curious to see how the sump thing works out (alright, truth be known, I don't want to be the guniea pig). I don't have anything set up as far as a sump goes yet, but soon. It is time for bed, gotta get up there before the kids start waking. Good night, Denise

Denise, I'll let you know on the 240 sump. Nice to have extra water volume on my 75, but a real pain to get flow w/out a RR- drilled tank.

Brad, I did get on the mailing list. What kind of stuff do you do at a meetings, swaps, how to,demo, speaker or more informal gather?
Take care,
Jim

I ALSO LIKE THE GROUP BUYS YOU ARE ALL DOING-oops (can you hear me now?) sorry I'm not yell'in. I just received an order from Blane's Farms of the Sea-zoo's and a tri color ric, very nice, also some free clove polyps and some red w/ blue dot shrooms.

I have a ton of pink Florida ric taking over my take-will trade, not sure anyone would want it in their take though.

Can we post pics in a member gallery and post tank specs?

oh,240 should be wet in 6 weeks+-

I'll take some :D

it's more informal this will be my first meeting.
But I've already met a few members for various trades.
I believe we just trade, veiw a tank and it's system, discuss it and other tanks, and anything else, have a few beers(in my case a screwdriver :) ), and kick back reef style. 8)

:) got any equipment to get rid of :D

Welcome to the club Jim!

As Brad has said, the group is very informal. It gives everyone a chance to check out someone else's tank and see how they setup it up. It's great for getting new ideas to do to your own tank. It's also a great place to trade frags with other members.

Under the Member's section, you can post pictures of your tank and catalog your equipment/inhabitants. There is also a frag's available section that is really nice.

I would love one of your Florida ric frags. At the moment, I only have Kenya tree frags ready for trading.

I'll try to post some pics in the gallery next several days so you can see the rics and tank shots. If I can make it to the next meeting how would I transport roc polyps-ziplocks? FYI-as far as I know my tank is "bug" free.

Who is Kevin? is he hosting Jan? Where? Need to plan ahead some, I'm a Realtor and Sundays can be crazy.

Have a great day,

Jim

Brad,
Sorry I missed the equipment ? Right now I think everything I have I'll use. Maybe a Knop Reactor, the smaller version. I'm going to make my own 2 chamber w/ 4.5in clear 30in tall acrylic and Mag 3.

Do you thing I should bring some ric polyps to Warren's?

Take care,

Jim

Jim,
I know I would be interested in some rics. Are you interested in any sps frags at this time? We could trade at Warrens. I also have a candy cane coral i could frag. Let me know :)

Sheila,
I'll bring the loose ones attached to crushed coral and you all can decide if you all want them-like 5-6 half dollar and larger size pink Florida Rics. MattK, Matt, Brad and maybe some others were also interested.

Thanks,

Jim
