Postby Brad_608 on Thu Jan 27, 2005 12:04 pm

I just received some frags overnight and one of the bags all the water is red .
how should I take care of this ?
what's going on with it

I received a colt,red/green buttons, green star polyps,
kenya tree, and green striped mushrooms.

all in two seperate bags .

I would call the company you received the shipment from right away and discuss this with them. Do the corals look fine? Every company has a different policy on handling matters like this, so I would call them immediatly.

it was a private trade.
they seem fine except they haven't opened yet, any of them.

the buttons were slime by the time accl. was done so I didn't bother putting them in.

Sounds like they got chilled man (or cooked but thats less likely given the state of the weather here). Major bummer. Tough call on what to do if it was a private trade. I assume the seller packed everything really well? Did the box sit out at all?

it was packed in a large box with foam peanuts
was overnight no heat pack(was planning on sending my trade with heat pack) I think they will be ok, all but the buttons that is, but will let you know

box went directly into my hands, I was waiting for it and my mailman is punctual.

Brad,

That guy should have used a heat pack and a thick sealed styro box. At this time of year in Wisconsin? Forget it. I would be really surprised if anything made it at all considering the cold we have had the past couple of days. Mailtrucks often sit for hours at a time (one gets left around the block from me for half the day) not to mention the box being outside when transferring via planes/trucks etc. Even in the truck, there is no guarantee that the box wasnt near the back with no heat. The idea of the styro as you probably know too is to insulate it against rapid changes as well as cold, heat and physical shock. Packing peanuts are a good idea to fill any dead air space inside the box but I wouldnt ship using only them unless it was warmer out and the animals I was shipping were hardy. I think this guy owes you another box of frags.

I agree
but I think the starpolyps and the zoa's
(don't think I mentioned them) will make it.
don't know about the colt yet the mushroom was a green striped but it's purple and was a little stiff but I threw it in just in case .

I'm a late nighter so my lights kick on at 11:30 am, so we'll see if they open today.

The guy that sent them is in appleton WI so it's probably even colder up there, he's a nice guy but I think he could of packed em better.
I was even willing to thermos trade but was rejected.
he did say that I could wait to send my trade to see if they make it. :)

ok lets re cap

colt-dead
mushroom-dead
kenya tree-dead-I already got some but he threw it in for free
zoo's-look to pull through but are opening VERY slowly
GSP- can't tell hasn't moved at all but also no signs of disintegration

sender will re-send all items in thermos with heat pack in box
