mixing dry rock & live rock

Postby aquacrab on Fri Aug 31, 2012 4:48 pm

I'm going to be setting up my reef tank (again) in the next few months. For right now I'm just gathering up my supplies. I was wondering if I put mostly dry rock in my tank and let that cycle through and then add live rock. Will that be ok.

Yes - that will be fine. All dry live rock with a few pieces of nice live rock to seed the dry would be fine. I don't think you would need to wait to add the wet live rock though - could be added at the same time you put the dry in. I can't think of a reason why you would wait - but maybe somebody else will chime in.

I agree...I don't see anything wrong with adding them at the same time.
