Adding new live rock existing tank

Postby 2kids1dog on Fri Sep 21, 2012 8:07 am

Good morning!! I think I'd like to add more live rock to my tank....can I do this safely? This would be live rock that has been in my LFS regular tank...not dried out stuff. Do I need to do anything to it before I add it? Thanks for info!

scrub it off in some salt water to make sure is clean and you should be fine to add.. over the next few weeks just keep an eye on it to make sure there are no pests. if you feel unconfortable doing that put it in a container with salt water and heater and keep light off of it for a few weeks.. this will help to get rid of any algea on it and any bad hich hickers out so you can remove them.. mojano, and aptaisa are the things i would be most concerned about..
