Madison Area Aquatic Hobbyists - Meeting this Saturday

Postby tjudy on Tue Nov 13, 2012 10:15 am

Hello Everyone....

Our guest speaker at the MAAH meeting on Saturday will be Matt Pederson, who will be giving a presentation about his new marine-breeding fish room and bangui cardinal maintenance program. Matt will also give us an update on what is happening in the Lightning Maroon Clown Project.

MAAH meets at Dream Lanes (13 Atlas Ct, Madison). The doors open at 11:00 AM and the meeting and auction usually lasts until about 2:30.

This month were a going to hold a charity donation auction to raise money for the New York Aquarium restoration fund. The recently remodeled NYA is one of the oldest and most venerated public aquariums in the country, but it has had some major damage caused by Superstorm Sandy. MAAH has a connection to the NYA through our species conservation program and friendship with Dr. Paul Loiselle (who's career is based at the NYA). Several interesting items have been pledged to the charity auction, included and drilled w/overflow 65-gallon (black trim) aquarium with top, light and stand from Central Aquatics (Aqueon, Coralife, Oceanic, etc...).

We are also waiving the $5 door fee for anyone who brings and item to donate to the NYA charity auction. A few MAAH members are planning to bring coral frags and marine equipment for the auction.

We also have a split auction every meeting that anyone is welcome to put lots into. The split is a flat 80/20 (80% to seller). If you are interested, pop over to the MAAH forum ( ... -events.4/) where there are two threads about what is coming in to the auction. Please post that you are coming, which will help sellers know how much support will be at the meeting for marine items.

See you Saturday!
