Need Help Drilling a 75

Postby nwieczorek on Mon Nov 19, 2012 8:23 am

I am sure this is within the web site somewhere, but I am looking to drill my 75, but I have a couple of questions.

What size hole should I do?
What would be the appropriate tool to use/what blade should I use for my drill?
How far down from the top lip is best?
What is the best bulk head to use(brand, etc.)?

Any other helpful tips would be great.

Thank you,
Nathan

Hi Nathan,

I would direct you to glassholes.com. Their kits are very helpful for setting up a tank for drilling. They definately take a lot of the guess work out of the process and have nice videos and instructions that will help greatly.

Glass holes is the way to go. They give you a template for drilling the hole, an extra couple bucks gets you the diamond bit you need, they have excellent bulkheads, clear instructions and best of all.....candy!:-o

I used a glass holes kit to drill my 65 gallon. It was really easy and I highly suggest them.

Thank you all for your advice. It looks like I might go with Glass holes.

Follow up question,
What are the advantages/disadvantages to drilling a return hole?
What size hole would I do for a return?

Thanks,
Nathan
