This is very helpful. I have been avoiding RO/DI because of cost, and my perception that it would be a lot harder to do, but I battled hair algae in my last tank, and want to avoid in my new one!

Could you all list what brand and model you use, and maybe include the total water volume in your system? I am particularly interested in the one that's available on Ebay for about $100.

Thanks!

I have an Oceanus 4 Stage (100 gpd) from Aquatic Reef Systems.

My tank has about 130 gallons of total water, and I use about 2 gallons a day for topoff. The unit will fill my 45 gallon brute in about 12 hours.

My aquasafesystem 100 gpd system came today. Grand total for the unit, a tds meter, pressure gauge, 5 sets of extra pre and post filters, four extra bags of di resin, and shipping was 236.50. I think just the unit would have been about 110 shipped but now i should be good for 2 1/2 years.

This has been incredibly helpful to demysitfy RO/DI. I am going to be shopping online for one this week. Thanks!
