lastnight i apparently unpluged my heater  this morning when i checked my tank the temp was 72 and everything was and still is closed up. I pluged the heater back in and now it is back to 78 but like i said everything is still closed up. Do you think I did any permiment damage

No, I don't think you did any permanent damage. When I was gone on vacation not too long ago my heater died. I had set the thermostat back in the house to a lower temperature. The temp in the tank was in the low 60s. Took a week but everything came back to normal.

I think you will be OK. Last Summer my tank completely lost power a couple of times over night. No heat or circulation. Electrical storms kept tripping the GFCIs. I spread my equipment across an additional electrical outlet and haven't had problems since then. It took a couple of days for everything to start looking normal again.
