A local frag swap would be AWESOME! I would like to come and help where I can but, I'll be in Hawaii from June 12-30.

I would be interested in both LA's and one here. I have never been to one before and would have nothing to trade (except maybe a few kenya trees  ) but it would be a learning experience. Denise

impending swap

Postby meisen on Wed Apr 13, 2005 5:53 pm

OK folks,

Looks like the First Annual Madison Area Reef Society Frag Swap is a go! We have at least 20 people who have responded in total plus an anticipated few folks from other clubs. We might even be able to draw in some people to the club if we can get some word out.

I am waiting to hear when the June meeting and Barbeque is going to be (mmmmm Bar-be-que), we will schedule around that and IMAC (June looks like its going to be a huge month for reefing!!!!). Steve and I and anyone else who is interested are going to get together next week over a beer or two to discuss details and we will probably set the date then.

So thus far, details I am toying with are:

Beltline location, free admission, $5.00 donations @ door accepted towards the web hosting costs for the MARS site. Free to trade/sell/barter/hangout etc. We are going to commercial sellers to skip this one as we are using a community room (you know who you are !*smirk*). Table space will be first come/first served. Still some details to discuss along with some publicity stuff that folks can hopefully help with.
There will likely not be raffle/door prizes except maybe a couple of frag packs.

Hey Meisen, I'm in for the swap meet.

I told Ereefic the June Meeting (BBQ and excess hardware rummage session) would be the 26th so unless there is some other conflict with something else that would be the date of the monthly meeting.

Great idea by the way!!!!!

I am also in if work permits... and possibly one or two of my aquarium reef buddies.

Mark M -- is the location in Madison?

That week is good for me. the $5 cover sounds about right, too. thanks so much for organizing this.

Katherine - The location we are currently looking at is going to be near the Beltline & Park St. in Madison in the community room at the fire station there. Lots of parking and easy access were a couple of the selling points. Not to mention that it's free!

Mark and I are getting together next week to meet and we'll post the time/place if others are interested in coming to help plan as well.
