Salt Mixes ... Looking for a balanced mix - Group buy?

Well, after having a short hiatus ... I should be getting salt next week [TM Pro Reef] and will likely have a second RC sample to test.

I know in the past I've tested two batches of RC side by side with the same kits and got different #'s ... so I'd like to as part of it here. Perhaps we can get two different IO batches too?

---
Timing, timing.

June 4th [saturday] or sometime that weekend would work well for me.

I could host it, or go somewhere ... the more the merrier IMO and thus anywhere is good [will follow consensus ... but figure I'll probably end up hosting it and am happy to :)]

We could try to do it at the frag-swap [or that weekend too] ... but I'd rather avoid the swap unless the concensus says it's a good idea. We could delay it to until the meeting, but once again unless those in charge of the events ask to have it happen there ... I don't think it's a good idea.

Life is BUSY this time of year, if you can't make it ... make no excuses for life coming before this obsessive hobby. You would if you could, and that's fine in my book :D

Who could do it the 4th? What time?
What alternative times/dates are good for you?

Once we know who can make it, we can tally the salt samples that are available, and collect various test kit volunteers ... and get the results spreadsheet made up :)

Since we're hitting him up to be the site admin here, which lets me edit messages to keep this next list updated [when I can] ... I'd happily see folks volunteer to bump Bob off the list some :)
Ideally everyone doing one, two tests would be best ... or at least limited in number.

I'll work it out as people suggest things, would love this to fufill everyone's interest/wants with this. All input is valued.

So far we've got:

IO #1 [Bob]
IO #2 [Eric]
IO #3 [Eric]
RC #1 [Mark]
RC #2 [Mark or volunteer]
TM - Pro Reef [Mark]
TM - Pro Reef #2 [Bob]
all other salts welcome

Test kits:
Ca: Salifert [Bob], Seachem [Mark], Salifert [Eric]
Alk: Salifert [Bob], Salifert [Mark], Salifert [Eric]
Mag: Salifert [Bob], Salifert [Mark], Salifert [Eric]
Strontium: Salifert [Mark], Salifert [Eric]
Nitrate: Salfert [Bob] or a volunteer [or test more?]
Phosphate: Salifert [Bob], Salifert [Eric] ... [would love input on this one]
Ammonia: anyone? ... [or not?]
---all other suggestions happily taken! ----

Sweet test equipment:
Digital Density Meter [Bob]

Refractometer:
Mark
Eric [maybe 3 to be obsessively complete? or not?]

---
PM, or post, or whatever to see who's got what and when you can come.

I'm in, and i'll bring some IO. I used the last of the RC I had so I won't have that. I have Alk, Cal, Mag., Phos. test kits, all Salifert. 4th sounds fine to me.

Sorry guys I am unavailable the weekend of the forth, Family camping outing.
If it all falls thru you are more than welcome to do it at the BBQ.
Do you ever wonder why the only thing common in all your dysfunctional relationships with others is you?

So, we are on for the 4th? Just you, me and Bob? Anyone else? Got a time in mind?

I'm open to any one else who can come, test kits or none.

As for the time ... would 1 pm be good, or later/earlier in the day?

I think Saturday, 6/4, is as good as any weekend during summer - unless someone lobbies for the following weekend.

I'll join in; sounds like fun. I can bring io and calcium and alk test kits. Let me know if you want me to bring water. I can also bring chips and dip or something for human taste testing  Nancy

1 O Clock sounds great to me. Where are we doing this again - Mark's place?? Somewhere else? I am updating Mark's list to reflect the TM Pro from me.

Sure, my place is fine.

LMK if anyone needs directions, I've got them from the Dec meeting [somewhere].

Nancy - please feel free to come. With just a few of us, not sure what food we'll need ... but sampling is always good!

How much of each salt should we bring Mark? A cup? I don't know how much you planned on mixing.

Maybe a couple cups to be safe.

I was figuring that the RC I have mixed up right now will go into a small tupperware ... the rest `fresh' [as I can].

Should we bring pre-mixed salt water? Do we want to mix it there so that it can all be mixed with the same RODI? Or, mix it ahead of time to make sure it is mixed well?
