What have I done?

Postby spbreeder on Fri May 13, 2005 1:46 pm

I got a nice hammer froom Eric yesterday and it was open and doing nicely in the spot I put it. After some crabs knocked it over a few times I decided to use epoxy putty to secure it. When I was putting the putty on the end of the frag I must have squeezed too hard and the skeleton cracked into a few pieces. The insides are still intact. Is death inevitable or will the skeleton regrow?
I feel terrible, Denise

I'm guessing you have a branching hammer?

Did you see tissue where it cracked? If not, then you're fine. Branching hammers will not regrow skeleton past where it's flesh is. They grow up and out creating new skeleton as they go.

Keep an eye on it, and if it's out, feed it with whatever you're feeding your fish. It'll grow faster that way.
