VHO Retrofit Assembly

Postby Fishfirst on Fri Jun 03, 2005 11:01 pm

Well I finally assembled my retrofit kit, but it doesn't turn on. One light flickers then it goes out. We've double checked connections, tightened endcaps, etc. But can't find anything wrong. Anyone know what it could be?

Did you buy used or new? What brand is it? Sounds like it could be the ballast? Make sure the bulb is seated properly in the endcaps is what I would suggest. Did you try swapping the bulbs to see if it is the bulb or that side of the ballast with the problem?

If you need, I have a spare 220W VHO ballast I could lend you if you want to test your setup.

We've checked the endcaps and switched lights etc. The thing is brand new, and is from home depot, its brand is Icecap

Ice Cap from Home Depot??? What is the model of the ballast, and what type of lights are you trying to run on it?

okay I'm a moron... MARINE Depot not home depot... wow, I thought it looked fishy but couldn't put my finger on it while I was typing it. everything was from thier icecap retrofit kit. One of the bulbs usually flickers when we adjust something and plug it back in. Sigh... I can't believe it didn't come with complete instructions.

Contact Marine Depot - they have a forum on RC or call their 800 number. They should help you out and take care of you.
