My clownfish just started laying eggs!!!

Whatup Madison!

This was the first time I have ever seen clownfish lay eggs in person. You can just barely see the eggs in the pics. Check out the videos in the links also. This was the most exciting moment I have had here at my warehouse. I'm so happy I caught it on film for everyone to see. Enjoy!

Got a few good pics considering I didn't want to clean the glass and distract them :)

Cool stuff - those orange eggs are sure hard to see against that terra cotta pot......
When on a journey, it is good to have an end, but in the end it's the journey that counts.

After seeing them do their dance I realized they were there. I think part of what I saw is them eating the eggs. There were no eggs the next day. I've got the dates down so I will expect more eggs in 14 days. I'm just gonna look for the behavior and watch what happens. Maybe another video :) I'm hoping they don't eat the eggs and I'm also hoping that some new food we will be feeding will help out the viability of the eggs. If they keep eating the eggs I will try to remove some eventually and aerate them heavily in a hatching tank. We are also focusing on maintenance of the broodstock tank and better water chemistry to ensure healthy eggs. I hope the size of the clutches will increase dramatically and they will become a nice dark color in only a few days. We also have 20 or so other pairs of clowns we are intensively feeding to initiate breeding. I'm hoping to have one or two more egg layers within a month. This system they are in was only setup 2 months ago. By the end of the month we will have another set of tanks up that are just for hatching. That hatching system will have 12 hatching tanks plus many others. Im gonna need a ton more tanks if I want to raise this many babies plus sell other breeders babies. Its gonna be fun!
