You will need to put some weight in the bottom of it if you don't want it floating (like a little piece of live rock). I am thinking there isn't really a way to raise it up high enough to mount it with the amount of water in that first compartment.
Otherwise perhaps put it inside a piece of PVC pipe to keep it straight. Here is a link to some designs to give you an idea:

Maybe try a piece of PVC pipe (4"?) and cut some slots in the bottom for the water to flow out of and see how that works.

I would put it back in the main display anyways since that is where the sand is.
Did you seed with a cup of live sand or a small piece of live live-rock?

No Live sand or Rock. Only All dry Rock and reused rinse sand.

You are going to need to seed the bacteria in the new setup - preferable with a cup of live sand from another reefers tank. If you create a separate post asking for such a thing - I am sure somebody will offer. I just have a nano-cube now - no longer have large tanks - otherwise I would offer.

Just seeing if anyone would like to donate any colorful community fish and hardy coral.
