Anyone up for a late Sept early Oct. trip to.......

Devil's lake/Parfrey's glen? The colors are beautiful there, should be warm enough for a hike and picnic. Is anyone interested?
Edited to add link to the state park site. Parfreys Glen is listed near the bottom under the "nature" heading. They are both spectacular places to visit.

Count me in! We love hiking- as long as we go slow!

I'll have to check the school calendars but what about 10/8? Maybe we can bring our camper out for the weekend.

I would be up for that and probably my wife. We use to go to Devils Lake quite a bit, but haven't been up there this year yet.

Any ideas what time this may be going down? My wife has a baby shower, but she said she would be willing to skip it. She was looking for an excuse to get out of it. I could come by myself also I suppose. Or bring my dog. He loves Devil's lake, but you have to stick to the trails. Plus he wants to stop at most every bush!

Just as long as you're not lifting your leg on every bush  I was thinking of meeting at Parfrey's glen at 10 then moving on to Devil's Lake after that to hike and picnic.

Parfrey's Glen sounds kind of cool. I've never been to that part of the Park. The DNR web site says that pets are not allowed in that area.

Parfrey's Glen is very cool. The outcroppings are awesome. I get a little giddy talking about it so I'll shut up now.

I am not going to be able to make it. Something has come up for that weekend. Can any additional stuff fall on that weekend? Geesh.

By the way, here is a link to a report for fall colors:

We're still going to try to get there during the daylight- but doubt very much we'll get there before noon. Weather should be perfect for a hike. We're staying at our camper near Mauston overnight- so if we don't make it Sat, we might go on Sunday.

I hate to do this but.... my son has pnumonia and a burst eardrum and 3 of the 4 were up coughing last night. There is no way I can leave Paul home with 3 sick kids. I am sorry and disappointed.

Don't feel bad- I'm at home too! Sent the big guy up alone (I'm sure the peace and quiet isn't bothering him one bit).

My 12yo had an earache/burst eardrum a while ago- that's why I missed the Sept meeting...
