I have been to Reefs and River and i was not very pleased. They had very limited saltwater and only a few corals. Not worth the drive!

Aside from the common Madison ones (Living Arts, Aquatic Specialties, Aquarium Superstore), I would recommend Rod's Reef in Dekalb, IL, although you will want to call before stopping by his place. I've been to quite a number of stores in the Milwaukee and Waukesha area and am not impressed by any of them - not even worth stopping at in my opinion. In my experience, your best bet is going to be in the Chicago area.

I went to Rivers and Reefs in Fon du lac, The guy had a lot of stuff, but i think everything in the store was free that day, cause none of the stuff had price tags on it. Then when I asked about a fish he had for sale and how much it was, he started hageling the price like a used car salesman.
I wont be going back there again. :(
I also went to Aqua Exhibits in Milwaukee, although they had a great supply of salts, heaters and other equipment, half the live stock was either Dead or dying. :(
On the other hand and Although, Hoffers Tropic Life on 76th and Goodhope Rd in Milwaukee had a wonderfully large selection of everything, and an extremely knowlagable staff, it seemed as though that 5 dollar damsel you bought at the store you normally go to, will go for about 10 dollars here.
I will also say the Coral selection here is HUGE! and all looked healthy.
Aquatics Unlimited, my opinion would be bias, so will not be added here, as I am friends with the owners.

Hoffers in Milwaukee

Postby mikeytwisted on Sat Mar 10, 2007 2:27 pm

I have not bought livestock from Hoffers on corner of Good Hope and 76th yet, but they have a huge selection of fish, ok corals, good selection of critters. They have a nice waterfall display in the back that is a reef environment in the pool.

Too bad about Rhinelander, I was going to make that trip myself someday. I was expecting acres of corals and fish.

I agree about Rivers & Reefs in Fond du Lac. I live in the town and don't even like going there. Nothing is priced. I shouldn't have to ask what the price is on every fish I look at. Aquatic world in Ocontomowak (spelled wrong?) is a great place to go for tanks. They have a lot in stock and will order. They had a decent selection of fish also.
