skimmer questions -- kind of urgent

Postby Studioksr on Wed Oct 20, 2004 8:17 pm

I just bought a brand new skimmer locally, made by Aquatic Life Systems.
The model is: Aggressor AIS-150, and is an insump venturi skimmer.
I cannot find anything on the net in newsgroups or anywhere else about this company, even though they have a webpage listed on the sheet that came with the skimmer.

I had originally been told that it was a Turbofloater, but when I went it to buy it, was told it was not. I had done some research on Turbofloater, and wanted to compare this one to the Turbo.

Does anyone here use one of these, or have any knowledge of them?

(I haven't set it up yet, and am trying to find something our before I use it . . . ) thanks!

Sorry, i'm not much help. I'm running Beckett skimmers. I believe Toddah uses a Turbofloater, might try PM'ing him, he may be able to help. Good Luck.

Hi,
I have a Turboflotor 1000 or Classic as they are referred to under both names.
What do you want to know about it?

Well, I dont have the Turbofloater, because I got the one they were selling locally, but the price I saw in Drs Foster & Smith was at least $150 or more without the pump.

Turboflotor

My TF1000 is a good skimmer. it removes tons of black / green gunk from my water. I would buy another in a heartbeat for $50.00. I have talked to a number of people who did not like the TF but also a number that think it's a good skimmer. I found the water level in the skimmer area of the sump is critical and the external pump makes a BIG difference in it's operation. If I had Eric's money I would get high end skimmer :P but my TF is a good skimmer for the money I spent. I think it all depends on your bioload and how much you want too spend in time figuring out the operation.

Turboflotor Skimmer

No that is not the one I have, I think they are just using the word turbo to fish in people based on the reputation of the Aqua Medic Turbo Floater line.
