Target Window

Postby Chachijoe75 on Wed Mar 05, 2008 10:54 pm

Hi Bob,

I remember that with the old look/feel links to external sites used to load in a secondary window. Now whenever we click on a URL referenced in a post we leave the site. Can the target window be modified? (_blank)

just a thought...

switch to firefox and middle click, opens it in a new tab. Not sure if the same applies to IE, but I am not an IE fan to begin with.

I have noticed this and have the same question. And no, I do not want to switch to Firefox. Tried it and ended up switching back to IE.

I think IE added the same feature recently, not the best solution but I thought I would mention it.

I've added that to the list of things I need to try and remember to do.. :)

Hope to have some time for the site soon...

I am using Safari and I do have the option of right clicking and selecting "Open in a new window" or "Open in a new tab".

But just thought it could be a nice enhancement. :)

Ewwwwww - why would you choose internet exploder over firefox!!

In a lot of cases Firefox can't transmit nt access to gateways used for work and stuff, so I do understand that portion. I still despise IE though.

If you work in the business long enough, you will despise both of them. IE6 and prior sucked, but IE7 is a much better renderer than Mozilla has and Mozilla doesn't seem to care about rendering bugs (for example, I have submitted bugs over a year old of extremely common rendering errors). Mozilla also has a horrible javascript processing engine which is buggy in various situations and causes headaches. Overall, neither IE (IE7, that is) nor FireFox is perfect, but IE is much easier to accomodate than FireFox.

I'm more than willing to continue this discussion sometime if you'd like. :)
