Hammer problems

Postby Coral king on Tue Aug 13, 2013 6:03 pm

My hammers aren't doing so hot but their buds are.
I understand that you need more details .
I bought a branching hammer with 2 polyps
I cut them apart and put them in 2 spots one on each side of a rock
They looked great for a week
But then they started dyeing
I moved them all around
In a desperate attempt to save them I put them at the top of my tank they're skeletons became whitish cream
They were ok for 1 month then one started deflating over 4 days I worked it down to the sand bed and here I am asking 2 questions

if I did the right thing in moving it down
And why the buds never so much as blinked

I've always keep hammers in the sand or lower rock shelve. If depends on what kind of lights you have as to if you overexposed them. Did the hammer torch go down hill after you did a water change? If you salinity is too high it would cause the polyps to retract. I would need to know your water parameters to provide additional help.

Hope that helps.
