id pics and thanks

Postby gordon on Wed Feb 26, 2014 7:33 pm

Thanks for all the advice from MadCityReefer, starboard, jeromi, braenDead and all the others that were at the Vintage last week. Being a newbie, I asked alot of questions and learned lots of things from you guys. I tried to explain some of the algae I had and some of the corals but I didn't have any pictures to show. So here is my attempt to take pictures. Maybe you can give me the proper names of some of these corals etc.. thanks in advance.

I thought that I would include some pictures from my "other" aquarium. It is an old 100 gallon long 72x18x18 that was once a reef tank when I bought it used back in 1998 from Lee @ aquatic specialties. I have been keeping planted freshwater tanks since then. Might convert it to a reef tank once I get some more experience. Then again, it is pretty.

Gordon it was nice hanging out. In the first pic I see gorgonian and the red algae I believe it to be cryptonemia. The palys look like people eaters of some variety. The green algae is oputia a variety of halemedia that doesn't have rizomes and looks to grow tighter. I would love some of that if you could ever spare some:)

The red and green mushroom things? Do you mean the zoanthids? If so I think they are eagle eye. In the fourth pick, the red with green centers look like blastomusa. The fresh water tanks look awesome! Make me open to having a fresh water tank:),

It was nice meeting you the other day Gordon. Your planted tank is amazing btw! I know that planted tanks can be harder to maintain then some reef tanks so BRAVO =D> As far as your reef tank goes I'm sure with due time it will come together nicely but be careful once you get the taste of the saltwater bug it becomes very addictive!!
KEEP ON REEFIN ON!!
